Controller Georgia Tech Alumni Association As Controller for the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, Allison Hickman oversees a $6.5 million budget. She is responsible for preparing all financial statements reported to the Board of Trustees, managing payroll issues for 55 employees and handling various administrative duties. She manages the building maintenance, purchasing and IT departments and oversees the management of the Alumni Database which keeps track of over 120,000 alumni. During her tenure, Allison has implemented a new payroll system, renovated the budget system and installed a new accounting software package and a new database package to track all alumni. Allison graduated from Georgia Tech in 1989 with a Bachelors degree in Management and a certificate in accounting. During her years at Tech she was on the Board of the Ramblin’ Wreck Club, played sweeper for the women’s soccer team and was Sweetheart of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. After graduating with honors, she passed the CPA exam and then went to work for Deloitte & Touche. At D&T she audited many fortune 500 clients such as UPS, Federal Paperboard and Macy’s. She also did two tax internships in the D&T tax department. After the birth of her first child, she joined the Georgia Tech Alumni Association as Controller in 1994. In addition to her regular duties, Allison has attended Georgia Tech club meetings all over the country, served on the Student Athletic Complex’s Board of Directors, attended many commencement ceremonies and hosted class reunion parties at Homecoming. She started her own tax and accounting business outside of her day job in 1995 and currently works with over 100 individual clients and 20 businesses. Her duties include preparing tax returns, bookkeeping, payroll and sales taxes, performing audits and consulting. Allison is very involved in her church and in her free time enjoys playing tennis and soccer. She has traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe and lived in Germany for four years in her youth. Allison and her husband Mike, also a Georgia Tech graduate, have a ten-year-old son, Andrew, and a seven-year-old daughter, Holly. The family currently resides in Cumming, GA.
